On 19th November 2016, over 100 members from Tasmanian Chinese Buddhist Academy of Australia participated in the 36th Annual Hobart Christmas Pageant.
The Christmas Pageant marks the beginning of the festive vibe for many; for us, it is a time of the year that we reflect and thank the acceptance and encouragement we have received from the people of Hobart and of Tasmania.
Prior to the commencement of the pageant, a short ceremony for the eye-dotting of the Holy Tantra Lions and Dragons was held. In the speeches by Premier of Tasmania, The Hon. Will Hodgman MP, and by The Right Hon. Lord Mayor of Hobart, Ald. Sue Hickey, they highly praised and recognised the contributions towards the Tasmanian community made by the Academy.
The 2016 Christmas Pageant also holds particularly meaningful value, as it occurred on the day after the 3rd anniversary of the visit to Tasmania by President of China, Xi Jinping, and Madam Peng Liyuan.
We are also extremely honoured to have been awarded the Lord Mayor’s Award.
